Saturn in Aries all of 2027: retrograde dates (next sign change: 2028)

The main sign change of 2027

In 2027, Saturn remains in Aries for the entire year. It entered this sign on February 14, 2026, and will stay there until April 13, 2028. This means that the main sign change of 2027 is not a change at all — Saturn continues its long passage through Aries, a transit that began the previous year and will conclude next year.

Every sign change and the retrograde of 2027

Saturn does not change sign in 2027. The next sign change occurs on April 13, 2028, when Saturn moves into Taurus. During 2027, Saturn turns retrograde on August 9 at 18:06 UTC, while in Aries, and stations direct on December 24 at 02:47 UTC, also in Aries. The retrograde period lasts 136 days.

How it is lived

According to Vronsky, Saturn in Aries is a peculiar combination. Saturn, as a planet of limitations, tends to suppress initiative and push the individual into a system's framework. Yet, at the same time, this transit can bring forward people who are ideologically driven, brave, able to make independent decisions, and willing to take responsibility for their actions. Vronsky notes that these are often leaders or heroes who assert their line forcefully, sometimes even proclaiming themselves as rulers or commanders. However, Saturn can treat such heroes harshly — in the years when it moves through Aries, they more often perish than triumph.

Robert Hand describes Saturn transits in general as a time when the area of life being tested becomes a source of tension. The house Saturn transits in your birth chart marks the sphere that requires your closest attention. Saturn transits often feel like an external, uncontrollable force, like an unpleasant fate, but they are actually an invitation to examine and restructure your life.

The first Saturn return, around age 28 to 30, is a three-year period when people typically experience the end of an era — the closing of youth and a challenging initiation into mature engagement with the established social order.

In 2027, with Saturn in Aries and its long retrograde from August to December, you may feel a push to assert your independence while also facing limits. This is a good time to double-check your plans and take responsibility for your choices. The retrograde period is not a broken Saturn, but an apparent backward motion — a chance to review what you have started since early 2026. Use the year to build structures that can support your initiatives, without expecting quick victories. Saturn rewards patience and persistence, not impulsive rebellion.
