What does an opposition between Mercury and Neptune mean?

An opposition is an aspect of about 180°: the two planets stand facing each other across the chart. Vronsky counts it among the unfavourable aspects: it restrains, creates confrontation and instability, but above all, in his words, it affects how a person becomes aware of a situation.

Modern Western astrology describes the opposition as polarity — conflict, but also partnership and growing awareness — and the task is to find a balance between the two energies.

In a particular chart much depends on the house Mercury occupies, and on the signs and the other aspects.
